Challenge
Gary Gosch, founder of Goode Luck, reach out to me about the request of a lettering design poster concept for a Charles Bukowski quote.
Solution
Since the famous writer Charles Bukowski was drunk most of the time and slept around a lot, we wanted the hand-lettering for “Find what you love and let it kill you” to be quite rough. It should give a sense of being scribbled done in the spirit of the moment. All type has been drawn by hand, first with lead pencil and then with a brush pen. After that the artwork has been digitally refined for the final piece. The poster was screen printed on a 100lb French paper, with white ink on black paper.
It was great to see the design get featured on some of the largest Instagram accounts for Typography design and hear people talk about how they liked it. I felt this design really helped promote my print business by the attention it received online from people!”
